Acupuncture for Fertility & Pregnancy
For many couples and individuals this is not straightforward or an easy process. Getting pregnant and starting a family can take a bit longer than intended and require some additional support. Acupuncture is effective at supporting fertility and achieving a healthy pregnancy. I frequently work with and support women and men at different stages of their fertility journey and support a wide range of conditions:
The broad area of Unexplained Infertility is addressed. Acupuncture increases Natural Fertility by promoting blood flow to the uterus and supporting ovarian development. Acupuncture also regulates menstrual dysfunction and supports hormone balance which helps to minimise symptoms of PCOS and Endometriosis which can prevent conception.
Acupuncture can support couples during assisted conception methods and protocols including IUI, IVF & ICSI. I also work with women with a history of multiple failed implantations and reproductive immunology issues which prevent conception and implantation. Acupuncture can also alleviate the symptoms of OHSS.
Acupuncture can improve sperm count and sperm motility. The life cycle of sperm is around 90 days. I work to create the optimal environment for sperm production and development; the focus of treatment is to reduce stress or pain levels, and promote diet and lifestyle factors which have all be shown to improve sperm quality.
Acupuncture supports pregnancy and reduces pregnancy complications. I work with women during each stage of pregnancy. This ranges from treating early stage morning sickness and tiredness to late stage back pain, sciatica and indigestion. Acupuncture also supports the final stage for birth preparation, breech presentation and labour induction.
Supporting Every Body
As a Fertility Support Trained practitioner, I am committed to supporting every birthing body, and all permutations of the people it takes to make a family. To using the correct Pronouns for each person who walks through the door. To recognise the unique journey taken by same-sex couples and the complex and sometimes traumatic journey that fertility work can represent to Trans and non-binary people. To treat known egg donors and surrogates without judgement. To acknowledge the unique challenges medical racism (or even just existing in a black or brown body) can pose to people of colour, and within this, to recognise our own privilege and be open to course correction without fragility. To embrace people in bigger bodies, differently-abled bodies and people of all religions. And finally, to accept without question the lived experience of all people who walk through our doors. We aim to treat people fairly and to recognise and respond to their individual needs, experiences and aspirations. Firmly believing that human diversity strengthens and enriches our society, The Fertility Support Company strives to provide healthcare without discrimination and with open-hearted, skilled, support.
