There are lots of reasons why people come to me for Acupuncture. Your treatment will be tailored to your health; but there are 4 broad areas of health I support using Acupuncture. I discuss these in this video:
The areas I work with patients to support are:
1. Patients in Pain or Discomfort (Physical, Emotional or Mental)
Patients come to me when pain is stopping them living life the way they want. Perhaps they have tried other treatments and had little respite. Tired of taking painkillers, they just want to get back to doing things the way they used to. Acupuncture successfully treats aches and pains in the body. All the treatment modalities used help to move blocked or stagnant energy, which causes pain.
2. Acupuncture Support during a specific medical treatment i.e. chemotherapy, IVF
People benefit from Acupuncture when it used as a treatment adjunct to specific drug regimes and medical treatments. Some people receiving invasive medical treatment choose to have Acupuncture to support them during and after treatment. Acupuncture helps people to relax and calm their mind at challenging times in their life.
3. Acupuncture Support with a recognised health complaint focusing on holistic treatment
People living with long term health conditions become tired of being identified as a ‘label’ or condition. Some patients have Acupuncture to help with the side effects of necessary medications and some choose Acupuncture as it is a natural treatment that helps them feel more positive, allow their body to relax and increase their overall sense of wellbeing.
4. Acupuncture during a particular phase of life i.e. Pregnancy, Chronic illness, Unexplained illness or symptoms.
Acupuncture supports people when they are experiencing changes to their health. It could be a short-term change to their health or adjusting to living with a chronic illness. Many people opt for Acupuncture when Western medicine can’t provide a satisfactory diagnosis or has limitations. Acupuncture is effective at restoring health and vitality and rebalancing your energy.
Advertising restrictions prevent me from outlining a list of medical conditions Acupuncture can treat. The British Medical Acupuncture Society explains why and provides further details.
Acupuncture treats a person and not the condition they present with and this is one of the reasons Acupuncture is so effective at restoring balance and health. The following examples explain individualised treatment –
Example 1 – Headaches & Migraines
Western medicine may recommend the same medicine for people experiencing headaches. However, with Acupuncture patients have individualised treatment. A patient’s symptoms, triggers, location and type of pain are discussed. After understanding their overall health, and other signs and symptoms an individual treatment plan is created. Different points and treatment modalities are selected and individual lifestyle advice is given.
Example 2 – Low mood, Stress, Low Motivation
Some patients feel stressed, unease, tired and have no motivation. They might experience emotions of anger, grief, confusion or sadness. They may experience sluggish digestion and poor sleep. Conventional medicine might prescribe similar medications. Acupuncture treatment takes a different approach. Each person receives treatment specific to them. The Branch (symptoms) and Root (cause) of their imbalance and Pattern of Disharmony are treated.
